Sri Sri Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati

Sankaracharya is the great sage who revived Hinduism in India and defeated many other philosophical schools comprehensively with his wisdom, knowledge and debating skills. There have been many more sages in his line that have spread his word of wisdom through the word. Of them, Sri Sri Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati holds a special place. He was a known jeevanmukta (liberated while alive in physical body). Let us see what principles in astrology indicate the same.

His birth details are: May 20th 1894, 1:18PM, Villupuram, Tamilnadu, India. I gathered them from a website dedicated to His Holiness. It seems fairly accurate to me. The following is the birth chart.

Some important points to note are:

  • Lagna lord is in 10th house (a quadrant), associated with Jupiter. Sun and Jupiter are extremely strong in this horoscope (Sun due to sthanabalam, Jupiter due to Kaala bala - Check the strengths section in Jagannatha hora).
  • Venus is extremely strong. An exalted Venus usually indicates chastity and less inclination towards sex. Note that Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa's horoscope has Venus exalted too. Furthermore, Venus is along with Rahu which usually indicates lack of marital comfort for a native. Vargottama Mars in the 7th house indicates less/no marital comfort.
  • Debilitated moon has cancellation through Mars and is Vargottama strengthening the horoscope. Moon is connected to every planet in some sense - he is in Mars' sign, aspected by Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury and Sun. Jupiter and Venus have exchanged signs -- so Jupiter's aspect has an implied Venus' aspect too. However, the most important thing the influence of strong Jupiter, Vargottama Saturn and Sun on Moon -- all of which indicate the spiritual outlook of a native.
What suggests Moksha?
  • Atmakaraka is vargottama. The lord of 12th from karakamsa (jeevanmuktamsa) is in Pisces (corresponds to Moksha).
His Holiness attained moksha at 2:58PM, Jan 8th 1994, Kanchi Mutt.

What suggests Moksha?

  • Atmakaraka is Mercury and vargottama. He is in Sagittarius aspected by none. Going by Jaimini Sutra, "If Karakamsa happens to be Aries or Sagittarius with a benefic in it, the native will attain moksha", and assuming that isolated Mercury in Navamsa is a benefic, moksha can be deduced from the horoscope.
Other interesting elements:
  • In the 12th house from Lagna in navamsa, which happens to be Pisces, Ketu and Juputer are situated. Although there is no authority that states that the 12th house in Navamsa from Lagna is important, I find this incidence interesting. Like I always say, we need to refine our wisdom in astrology by looking at the horoscopes of these great sages rather than the other way around.

    1. It's hard to judge from just these two factors, Manu. Try applying the combinations that I mentioned from various texts in some of my posts, yourself.
